(LATHAM, N.Y.) – The Wilson men's volleyball team has a representative that has been named the United East Defensive Player of the Week for a second week in a row. This time the honors go the
Camden Sterner (Spring Grove, Pa. / Spring Grove) after his efforts in three matches which included a pair of conference wins against Gallaudet and Saint Elizabeth.
It's the second time Sterner has received defensive honors and the sixth Phoenix selection by the United East office this season.
In total, the junior libero chalked up 34 digs over the nine sets played the lead the Phoenix back line. He picked up a season-best 16 (in three-set matches) against the Bison to open up the week. Wednesday's tough test against Stevenson and Saturday's league win against the Eagles saw him add nine in each contest.
Sterner is currently No. 17 nationally and second in the conference with 2.91 digs per set.
The Phoenix return to action on Thursday as they host Penn State Schuylkill in the final non-conference match of the season. First serve with the Lions is set for 7 p.m.
