How It Happened
- Wilson asserted itself early as it jumped out to an 11-3 lead at the start of the match. Demetrius Simmons (Sr., Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg) led the charge with three kills and an ace during the stretch. A 4-0 stretch with another pair of Simmons aces helped make it 20-11. Another 4-0 stretch with kills from Adan Rodriguez-Sapien (L, Biology, N.Y) and Jacob McCoy (Sr., York, Pa. / Spring Grove) gave Wilson the set.
- The Phoenix were even more dominant in the second as they jumped out to an 11-1 lead. Jackson Wolfe (So., Abbottstown, Pa. / New Oxford) pulled out three kills to fuel the run. Wilson got stronger from there and Satvik Sharma (So., Hummelstown, Pa. / Hershey) ended up going to an attacking role and gave the Phoenix a 2-0 lead after a pair of kills.
- Valley Forge had a short advantage up 3-2 in the third, but it was no trouble for Wilson to overcome which they quickly did following a Wolfe kill. Wolfe added another along with an ace to help make it 11-5. He served up a pair of aces late and McCoy closed the night with a pair of kills.
Inside The Numbers
- Ryan Koontz (Jr., York, Haven / ) led all players with 10 kills. McCoy was one behind him.
- Less than a week after posting a program record for aces in a single match, the Phoenix nearly matched the previous mark with 16.
- Setting duties were split as Sharma totaled 15 and Peter Marston (FY, Grand Island, N.Y. / Grand Island) was behind him with 10.
- Koontz paced the team defensively with 11 digs. It was his first double-double of the season.
