Student-Athlete Advisory Committee

WILSON SAAC
The Wilson College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) primary concern is issues dealing with student-athlete well being. At Wilson, SAAC is made up of two representatives from each athletic team. Being a member of SAAC, gives the student-athlete the ability to grow as leaders for their teams and for the College.

At a local level, SAAC reps are able to voice their opinions, along with their teammates' opinions, on institutional policies/procedures and other issues that they feel are important to them and/or their team. SAAC also has the opportunity to speak and vote on legislation that is brought up by the NCAA. The votes on NCAA legislation from the local level are taken to the CSAC Conference Level reps who will then take it to the National Level for further discussion.

MISSION STATEMENT
The Mission of the Wilson College SAAC is to promote the highest levels of athletic competition and represent the needs of all student-athletes with the conference. The committee is also dedicated to abiding by all NCAA Division III and CSAC philosophies and legislation while promoting and fostering the ideals of: Sportsmanship, Ethics, Recognition, Leadership, Growth, Development, Success, Pride, Dedication, Dignity, Academic Excellence, Student-Athlete Welfare, and The Student-Athlete Voice.
Members are appointed by their coach, and serve as a representative of their team and a liaison between the student-athletes and the athletic department.

NATIONAL NCAA DIII SAAC
The NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) strives to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity for all student-athletes; protecting student- athlete well-being; and fostering a positive student-athlete image, while maintaining the tenants of the Division III philosophy.

A student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC) is a committee made up of student-athletes assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience. The SAAC also offers input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes' lives on NCAA member institution campuses.

Presently, there are separate national SAACs for NCAA Divisions I, II and III. NCAA legislation mandates that all member institutions have SAACs on their respective campuses. Further, NCAA legislation requires that all member conferences have SAACs.

The Division III SAAC consists of one student-athlete representative from each pair of conferences represented in the Division III SAAC partnership program and at least one student-athlete from a Division III independent institution.

Two student-athletes from the committee are voting members on the Division III Management Council. In Division III, legislation is proposed to the Management Council from Division III committees, and the Management Council then has the option of forwarding the proposed legislation to the Division III Presidents Council for approval. If the legislation is approved by the Presidents Council, it is voted on annually at the NCAA Convention in January by each Division III member institution and conference to determine if it will become new legislation.
