(LATHAM, N.Y.) – For the second time this season,
Leah Laubach (Marietta, Pa. / Lancaster Catholic) has been named the United East Defensive Player of the Week. The sophomore guard posted a pair of double-doubles while helping Wilson split a pair of games in Puerto Rico which included a win over Marymount.
Against the Saints, Laubach scored 10 points and pulled in 10 rebounds as the Phoenix knocked off the Saints 65-50 on Thursday. It was the first meeting between the two schools located 96 miles apart.
Laubach added her fifth double-double of the season as Wilson took on Franklin College out of Indiana less than 24 hours later. The high-powered Grizzlies won the game, but Laubach still added 11 points and 10 rebounds. She added a steal in each game as well.
She is currently tied for 27th in Division II in double-doubles. She is tied for seventh among players either in their first or sophomore season.
Laubach was also named Defensive Player of the Week on November 10. It's the fourth selection for the Phoenix in the opening six weeks of the season.
The women's basketball team will be off for the remainder of the month. Its first game back will be Wednesday, January 7, as the Phoenix host Cedar Crest in United East action.
