(LATHAM, N.Y.) – The 2025-26 United East Women's Basketball Preseason Poll has been released and Wilson has been selected to finish seventh in the field of 14 teams. The rankings were voted on by all of the head coaches for women's basketball in the United East. The Phoenix are coming off their fourth consecutive winning season in conference which resulted in another postseason appearance.
Last year's regular season champion St. Mary's was picked at the top of the poll and received five first place votes. The Seahawks edged out Penn State Abington who also received five top picks to come in second. Gallaudet, tournament champions from a season ago, received three first place votes to come in third.
Penn State Harrisburg picked up the last first place pick to come in fourth, while Penn rounds out the top five. Notre Dame is slotted sixth ahead of the Phoenix.
The campaign gets underway this Saturday as Wilson welcomes Mary Baldwin to Gannett Memorial Field House for a 4 p.m. start.
The conference opener will be on Wednesday, December 3, up I-81 at Penn State Harrisburg. After hosting Cairn that Saturday, the Phoenix will travel for a pair of non-conference games against Marymount and Franklin in the Puerto Rico Clasico.
The Phoenix look to return to the United East Championship which begins its tournament with the first round on Wednesday, February 18. The quarterfinals are slated for that Saturday with semifinals scheduled for Tuesday, February 24. The final will be on Saturday, February 28.
