Phoenix Topped By Lions in Women's Hoops

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - The Wilson College women's basketball team traveled to Bry Athyn to take on the Lions in North Eastern Athletic Conference action. The Lions defeated the Phoenix 84-45. Freshman Jordyn Day (Richmond, Va, Varina) paced the Phoenix attack with a season high 24 points.

The Lions got off to a quick start scoring the games first eight points before freshman
Ashley Henderson  (Waldorf, Md. , North Point ) put the Phoenix on the board with a three-point shot to stop the run. The opening quarter would end with an 8-2 run by the Lions and they would take a 24-9 lead after one. The Phoenix would have a strong second quarter led by an eight point effort from Henderson, while the team shot 50% from behind the arc, however the Lions would outscore the Phoenix by three points in the quarter and take a 41-23 lead into the half.

The Lions would open the third quarter on a 10-0 run on the strength of six points from Kristina Clarkson, who scored a team high 24 points for the game. The Phoenix continued to battle in the fourth quarter as Day would get hot and tally 12 points in the period, but it wasn't enough to catch the Lions who would go on and take the 84-45 victory.

The Phoenix offense was led by Day with 24 points and Henderson, who added 13 points. Senior
Morgan Wonders  (Newville, Pa. , Big Spring ) added a team high 12 rebounds for the game. The Lions were led by Clark with 24 points and Je'La Watson with 18 points, while Robin McClinek had a game high 17 rebounds.

With the loss the Phoenix fall to 2-7 overall and 0-6 in the NEAC, while the Lions move to 7-4 overall and 5-1 in conference play.

Wilson will be back on the court this Saturday at SUNY Poly, with a 3:00 p.m. tip.
