Lemay Locks Down United East Defensive Player of the Week

(LATHAM, N.Y.) – For the second consecutive week to open the season Wilson has a player that was selected Defensive Player of the Week by the United East conference. This time the honor went to Riley Lemay (Jr., Saugerties, N.Y. / Saugerties) after her exceptional efforts in games against Goucher and St. Vincent.

Against the Gophers, the Phoenix defender brought havoc on the Goucher attack as she caused six turnovers and picked up eight ground balls. Both marks were easily new career highs.

In a defensive battle against the Bearcats on Saturday, she continued the trend and added three more turnovers and three more ground balls to help the Blue and White stay in the game until the final seconds.

This is Lemay's first player of the week honor.

The Phoenix will be back at home as they host Westminster (Pa.) on Saturday. Opening draw is set for 1 p.m.
