(LATHAM, N.Y.) – For the second week in a row, the Wilson softball team has swept the United East Player and Pitcher of the Week awards.
Katelyn Keller (So., Orrtanna, Pa. / Gettysburg) repeated her efforts for Player of the Week honors while
Rylee Piper (Jr., Newville, Pa. / Big Spring) tossed her way to the pitching accolades.
Keller had another smashing week as she went 7-for-15 from the plate with seven runs scored, three RBIs, two triples, and a stolen base just for good measure. She opened with a 3-for-4 performance with three runs scored and two triples against former conference rival St. Elizabeth. She had two multiple hit games to give her five in nine games to start the year.
Keller now has 17 triples in her career which is second among active Division III players and third among all NCAA players.
Piper put together another strong week as she went 2-1 while allowing just two earned runs in 10.2 innings pitched. She allowed eight hits across that stretch with five coming in a complete game shutout of former conference foe St. Elizabeth. She tossed another three frames in relief to help Wilson defeat Grove City to cap spring break games. She struck out five in her three appearances.
