How It Happened (Game 1)
- Wilson struck first with two-out lightning in the top of the second inning. After Madison Briggs (Sr., Lock Haven, Pa. / Central Mountain) singled to left and Addison Woods (FY, North East, Md. / Tome School) walked, Samantha Rybacki (So., Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg) brought them both in with a triple to center. Rybacki wasn't on the hot corner for long as Jenna Weaver (So., Camp Hill, Pa. / Cedar Cliff) brought her in immediately with a base it down the right field line.
- Speed helped the Phoenix score a pair one inning later. Emily Randalls (So., Dillsburg, Pa. / Northern York) and Katelyn Keller (So., Orrtanna, Pa. / Gettysburg) got on safely and stole second before Randalls scored on a fielder's choice. With Sydney Hartle (So., Keedysville, Md. / Boonsboro) on first, Keller teamed up with her for a double steal to make it 5-0. Abington answered in the bottom of the frame with back-to-back doubles to make it 5-1.
- In the fourth, Hartle drove in another pair with a line drive down the left field line to score Keller and Weaver. Woods then gave Wilson the eight-run cushion in the fifth with a two-run home run.
How It Happened (Game 2)
- The nightcap saw teams go back-and-forth over the first two innings. Wilson struck first with Hartle driving in Randalls, who reached early on a double, with a base hit to left. Abington answered with a Marlena Hacker triple that scored Isabella Antosiewicz. Hacker scored two batters later on a base hit by Tori Colagreco.
- Wilson regained the lead in the second with Woods getting a triple to right field to drive in Briggs who was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Woods scored two batters later on a double by Weaver. The Lions were able to answer and tie the game on the aid of an error in the bottom of the frame.
- Scoring remained dormant until the fifth when Keller put on the speedburners again with a bunt single and a swipe of second. Hartle continued the trend set in Game 1 and drove her in on a double to right center. With Alexa Snyder (FY, Clear Spring, Md. / Clear Spring) pinch running for her, Snyder later made it 5-3 on a Rybacki sacrifice fly. Wilson added an insurance run in the sixth with Hartle doubling in Randalls.
Inside The Numbers
- Elena Worthington (Jr., Shippensburg, Pa. / Shippensburg) got the win in the opener after allowing just one run on two hits and a walk with four strikeouts. She improves to 3-2 on the year.
- Julia Wilkes (So., Abingdon, Md. / John Carroll) went the distance in Game 2 to improve to 4-1. She allowed three runs, two earned, on seven hits and a walk with six strikeouts.
- Hartle had an incredible day as she went a combined 4-for-7 with six RBIs and two doubles.
- Woods was busy on the base paths with a 3-for-6 day with three RBIs and three runs scored. She was a double short of a cycle between the two games.
- Keller was busy as well with five stolen bases on the day to put her in double digits with 11 for the season.
