(STATE COLLEGE, Pa.) – Cole Cooper (FY, Virginia Beach, Va. / Salem) continues to have an incredible year as he carded a 72 in the first round of the Pennsylvania Classic hosted by Penn State on Saturday. He currently sits third out of 120 golfers in the individual standings.
Cooper carded 36 on both the front and back nine to score even on the day. He birdied holes 1, 5, and 16 with bogeys on 6, 7, and 17. He currently is one stroke behind leaders Christopher Hoffman of Allegheny and Brendan Cooley of Saint Vincent.
Junchen Huang (Jr., Taiwan / Veritas Meihua International) was second on the Phoenix with an 86.
Bryson Curtis (FY, Fairfax, Va. / Oakton) and
Brady Curran (FY, Frederick, Md. / Linganore) both scored an 89 to complete the team score.
The Phoenix will be back on the links Sunday to complete the event.
