(CARLISLE, Pa.) – Not only did Wilson open the season better than it has ever before, it had its best tournament score in program history after completing the Dickinson Fall Invitational. One of the main reasons for that was the play of
Cole Cooper (FY, Virginia Beach, Va. / Salem) had the best debut and tournament score in program history as well.
The Blue and White turned in a two-round total of 670 at the Barricks Golf Course which bested their previous mark by 12 strokes set at the 2024 United East Championship at Philmont Country Club in Bryn Athyn.
Cooper's pair of 78s gave him a total of 156 to break Wilson's previous record of 160 set by
Tristan Worlock. The rookie carded three birdies on the day to help his score with two of them coming on the front nine.
Junchen Huang (Jr., Taiwan / Veritas Meihua) finished 12-over with an 84 as the second man for the Phoenix. He was followed by
Rob Kozicki (Sr., Camp Hill, Pa. / Camp Hill) who had an 87 and
Brady Curran (FY, Frederick, Md. / Linganore) who completed the team score with an 88.
Robert Sturgeon (FY, Goldvein, Va. / Liberty) was the fifth player on the squad and had an 11-stroke improvement with a 91 on Day 2.
After a dominating first round, Franklin & Marshall cruised to the tournament win and finished 20-under, 19 strokes better than host Dickinson which finished second. Susquehanna was third.
The Phoenix will be back on the greens on Wednesday, September 17, just a few miles away at the Mont Alto Invitational at Penn National Golf Course.
