(HAGERSTOWN, Md.) – Cole Cooper (FY, Virginia Beach, Va. / Salem) continues to rewrite the record books as he set a new program record for two-round score at the Cardinal Fall Classic over the weekend. The rookie scored identical rounds of 77, matching his own single round record along with
Tristan Worlock, to total 154 for the tournament.
It resulted in Cooper finishing tied for 31st on the individual leaderboard. Goucher's Riley Ruby was the medalist for the event with a 141 after scoring rounds of 71 and 70.
Seven birdies were totaled by Cooper during the two-day tournament. Four came on Saturday with two each on the front and back nines. Two more came on the front nine on Sunday. He finished the event by scoring par on the final five holes.
As a team, Wilson finished 12th with a score of 675 after rounds of 337 on Saturday and 338 Sunday.
Following Cooper,
Junchen Huang (Jr., Taiwan / Veritas Meihua) scored a 167 between rounds of 84 and 83.
Brady Curran (FY, Frederick, Md. / Linganore) was third for the Blue and White with a 176 on rounds of 87 and 89.
Robert Sturgeon (FY, Goldvein, Va. / Liberty) was two strokes back to complete the team score with consecutive scores of 89.
Scott Zorn (FY, York, Pa. / Dallastown) was the fifth player for the Phoenix and scored a 183 on rounds of 93 and 90.
Marymount won the event with a team score of 586. Host Catholic was second with a 591.
The Phoenix will be back on the greens this Thursday as they head to Harrisburg for the United East Preview at Dauphin Highlands Golf Course in Harrisburg.
