(CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.) – The first day of the United East Championship for men's golf at Chambersburg Country Club is officially in the books. Wilson, serving as the host of the event, turned in a team score of 390 for the first round to put the Phoenix in eighth place.
Rob Kozicki (Jr., Camp Hill, Pa. / Camp Hill) turned in the top score for the Blue and White with a 93. He was followed by
Junchen Huang (So., Taiwan / Veritas Meihua International) with a 94 and
Tristan Worlock (So., DeRuyter, N.Y. / DeRuyter Central) with a 95.
Joseph Ziercher (FY, Berryville, Va. / Clarke County) completed the team score with a 108.
The Phoenix are well ahead of Rosemont who sits in ninth in the team standings. Penn College leads the field with a team score of 324, 12 strokes better than second place Penn State Berks.
Will Orwig for Penn leads the individual standings after he turned in a 73 to strike even on the day. Peyton Moyer of Berks is four strokes back.
The final round will start at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
