Goff, Lague Sweep Players Of the Week Awards

(LATHAM, N.Y.) – After picking up a pair of conference victories, Wilson swept the United East Player of the Week honors with Kaelyn Goff (So., Union Bridge, Md. / Francis Scott Key) taking defensive accolades while Sage Lague (Sr., Fairplay, Md. / Goretti) receives the offensive award.

The duo was instrumental in helping the Phoenix defeat Bryn Athyn at home in overtime in the middle of the week and take down Cedar Crest on the road in the regular season finale. As a result, the Phoenix secured the No. 2 seed in the upcoming United East Championship and will host a semifinal game on Saturday.

Goff came up huge as she reached double-figures in saves in both contests. Against the Lions, she turned away 15 shots in the overtime victory. Ten of them came in the second half and one was in the extra period. She followed up with 10 against the Falcons on Saturday.

Lague was also instrumental on the opposite end as she totaled nine goals and an assist. Three goals and the helper came in the win over Bryn Athyn. Her third goal of the game came in the final moments of the fourth quarter to tie the game and force overtime. Her six-goal outburst against the Falcons all came consecutively and helped the Blue and White pull away from the hosts.

The second-seeded Phoenix will host No. 3 Bryn Athyn at 1 p.m. at Kris's Meadow on Saturday.
