Western Beats Penn State, Named Reserve High Point Team

(BLOOMSBURG, Pa.) – It was another solid weekend of riding for the Wilson equestrian Western team as it finished third and second, respectively, in its two shows on Sunday. The Phoenix opened the day with a third place finish behind DelVal and Penn State. In the afternoon, the Wilson Blue and White bested that of Penn State for the reserve high point team honors behind the Aggies.

While there weren't any new regional qualifiers, there were plenty of ribbons handed out. Hayden Sturgeon (Jr., Clymer, Pa.) took the lone blue ribbon of the day as she finished first in the afternoon Rookie A Horsemanship.

Rachel Bardsley (So., Palmyra, Pa.) doubled up on second place finishes as she was runner-up in both shows in Level 1 Horsemanship. Maddie Cramer (FY, Orrtanna, Pa.) added a second in Rookie B Horsemanship during the afternoon show, improving upon her third place finish in the event during the morning.

Judi Wolf (Jr., Sykesville, Md.) also had a strong day with a pair of third place finishes in both shows for Level 2 Horsemanship. Regina Snyder (Jr., Corsica, Pa.) added a third place ribbon in Level 1 Horsemanship in the afternoon.

The Phoenix will be back in the saddle next weekend when they ride in the regional championships on Saturday.
