(ALTOONA, Pa.) – After banging on the door every round so far this season,
Cole Cooper (Virginia Beach, Va. / Salem) finally broke the program record for a single round on Day 1 of the Sinking Valley Collegiate Classic. The first year phenom fired a score of 76, beating the previous mark set by himself and
Tristan Worlock by one stroke.
Cooper birdied four of the holes and made par five times to finish six-over on the day. As a result, he's tied for 15th in the individual standings.
Brady Curran (FY, Frederick, Md. / Linganore) had the next-best score for the Phoenix with a 91. He was followed by
Robert Sturgeon (FY, Goldvein, Va. / Liberty) and
Junchen Huang (Jr., Taiwan / Veritas Meihua) with a 92 and 96, respectively, to complete the team score of 355.
Robert Kozicki (Sr., Camp Hill, Pa. / Camp Hill) finished with a 97 as the fifth player on the team.
Franklin & Marshall leads the field with a 299. Mount Aloysius is second with a 302.
