(LOGAN, N.J.) – The spring season started for the Wilson equestrian Western team with a pair of shows hosted by the University of Rutgers on Saturday. The Phoenix rode well to start the semester and turned in a pair of third place finishes as a team. Individually Saturday saw the Blue and White receive four top three finishes, including a pair of blue ribbons.
Winning the high point team award for the morning show was DelVal with Penn State receiving reserve high point team. Those two teams switched places in the afternoon final standings.
In the morning,
Rachel Bardsley (So., Palmyra, Pa.) took top honors riding in Rookie B Horsemanship.
Adaira Decker (So., Kearneysville, W.Va.) placed third in Rookie A Horsemanship, while
Maddie Cramer (FY, Orrtana, Pa.) and
Jasmine Gruver (Sr., Chambersburg, Pa.) took fourth in Rookie B and Ranch Riding, respectively.
Julie Warnick (Jr., New Oxford, Pa.) took the blue ribbon in the afternoon in reining. Decker had another solid ride with a second place finish in Rookie A. Gruver added a fourth place in ranch riding.
At the end of the day, Bardsley is now one point away from qualifying for regionals. Warnick is now two points away from qualifying for regionals to defend her title in the reining.
The Phoenix will ride again in three weeks as they head to Bellefonte for a show hosted by Penn State.
