(CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.) – The Wilson Western equestrian team had plenty to celebrate as a pair of riders qualified for the IHSA national semifinals on Saturday.
Julie Warnick (So., Sykesville, Md.) and
Allyson Reese (Sr., Osceola Mills, Pa.) comprised of the duo after their performances in the regional championships hosted at Hawthorne Indoor Arena.
Other teams competing included Arcadia, Delaware Valley, Bloomsburg, Kutztown, Penn State, Rutgers, and Delaware.
Warnick received top honors as she finished first place in Reining during the regional championship show in the afternoon. Reese was also exceptional and received second place honors in Rookie B. As a result, both move on to the semifinals which will take place at the University of Findlay (Ohio) March 22 through 24.
During the morning show, both riders were also in competition with the rest of the Phoenix.
Regina Snyder (So., Corsica, Pa.) and
Adaira Decker (FY, Kearneysville, W.Va.) had the best results as they finished first in Rookie B and Beginner, respectively.
Third place finishes went to Reese in Level I and
Eva Bowers (Sr., Manchester, Md.) in Level II Ranch. Fourth place ribbons were received by Warning in Reining,
Kelsey Gaphardt (Sr., Forest Mill, Md.) in Level I Horsemanship, and
Hayden Sturgeon (So., Clymer, Pa.) in Beginner. Bowers finished fifth in Level II Horsemanship, while
Matilyn McKelvey (Sr., Arendstville, Pa.) rounded out the awards with a sixth place finish in Beginner.
