Western Opens Season As Reserve High Point Team

(KUTZTOWN, Pa.) — The Wilson Western equestrian team opened its season on Saturday with a standout performance at a Zone 3 show hosted by Kutztown University. The Phoenix earned multiple top spots across divisions and finished the afternoon show as the reserve high point team, setting a strong tone for the year.

Judi Wolf (Jr., Sykesville, Md.) led the team with a first place finish in Level I Horsemanship, while first-year rider Rachel Bardsley (So., Palmyra, Pa.) topped the Rookie B Horsemanship class.
Julie Warnick (Jr., New Oxford, Pa.) also made her mark and placed fourth in Open Reining and sixth in Open Horsemanship.

In Beginner Horsemanship, the Phoenix dominated as Hayden Sturgeon (Jr., Clymer, Pa.), Adaira Decker (So., Kearneysville, W.Va.), and Chloe Kelley (FY, Taneytown, Md.) secured second, third, and fourth place finishes, respectively, to round out the morning competition.

The team continued their momentum into the afternoon show hosted by the University of Delaware where Warnick took first place in Open Reining. Wolf added a second place finish in Level II Horsemanship.

Wilson collected two more first place ribbons as Bardsley again claimed the top spot in Rookie B Horsemanship and Decker won Beginner Horsemanship for her second top finish of the day.

The Phoenix return to action on Saturday, November 23, at DelVal.
