(LOGAN, N.J.) – The Western equestrian team's season resumed on Saturday with the Wilson riders competing in a pair of Zone 3 shows in the Garden State. The Phoenix saved the best for last as they took home the reserve high point team award for the afternoon show, finishing behind only Penn State by a couple of points.
The p.m. show was highlighted by
Julie Warnick (So., New Oxford, Pa.), Kelsey Gaphardt (Sr., Forest Mill, Md.), and
Allyson Reese (Sr., Osceola Mills, Pa.) who took home blue ribbons. Warnick took first in reigning, while both Gaphardt and Reese received first in Level 1 horsemanship A and B, respectively, despite being moved up.
Second place ribbons went to four riders in the nightcap.
Hayden Sturgeon (So., Clymer, Pa.) rode to runner-up finish in beginner horsemanship.
Judi Wolf (So., Sykesville, Md.) was second in Level 1 horsemanship A.
Adaira Decker (FY, Kearneysville, W.Va.) was second in beginner horsemanship.
Regina Snyder (So., Corsica, Pa.) was second in Rookie B horsemanship.
Jasmine Gruver (Jr., Chambersburg, Pa.) took the only third place finish in the afternoon show in Level 1 horsemanship B.
Gaphardt had the best finish of the morning show as she placed first in Rookie B horsemanship. Decker added a third place finish in beginner horsemanship.
The Phoenix will be back in the saddle in two weeks at an event co-hosted by Penn State and Susquehanna.
