(VILLANOVA, Pa.) – For the third time this season and fourth time in his career,
Chris Baumann (So., Snow Hill, Md. / Snow Hill) has been the CSAC Pitcher of the Week. The southpaw earned honors once again while recording a pair of wins during last week's slate to end the regular season.
In his first appearance of the week, Baumann pitched two innings of relief work and struck out four batters while allowing just one hit. Wilson went on to defeat Pitt-Bradford 7-1 and Baumann was credited with the victory.
Baumann remained hot and started the first game of the series against St. Elizabeth later in the week. This time he struck out six while allowing just five base runners on four hits and a walk in 8.0 innings of work, his longest outing of his career.
He currently leads the CSAC with a 9-0 record and 67 strikeouts on the season. He has started 13 games on the season, fifth-most in the nation, and the Phoenix are 13-0 in those games.
The Phoenix will open the postseason on Wednesday as the second seed in the CSAC Championship. They will host No. 3 Cairn for a single game in the double elimination tournament. From there all teams will head to Keystone for the rest of the tournament.
