(BANGOR, Pa.) – The first horse show of the season for Wilson's Western team is in the books as the Phoenix competed in a Zone 3 Invitational hosted by Kutztown University. While the Blue and White didn't place as the high point or reserve teams, they did place a respectable third behind Penn State and Delaware Valley in the afternoon.
Highlighting the day were the rides of
Allyson Reese (Sr., Osceola Mills, Pa.), Adaira Decker (FY, Kearneysville, W.Va.), and
Jasmine Gruver (Jr., Chambersburg, Pa.) as all three took home blue ribbons. Resse and Decker both took home the top prize in Rookie B and Beginner sections, respectively, in the afternoon. Gruver took first in Level 1 during the morning session.
Judi Wolf (So., Sykesville, Md.) and
Hayden Sturgeon (So., Clymer, Pa.) also had solid days with second place finishes in the morning. Wolf was riding at Level 1 while Sturgeon was at beginner. Sturgeon later placed third while Wolf finished fourth.
Wilson had a handful of additional third place riders throughout the day.
Julie Warnick (So., New Oxford, Pa.) opened up with a third place in the Open while later adding a third in the reining in the afternoon. She added a fourth place in the morning reining session and a fifth place finish in the afternoon Open.
After finishing fifth in the morning Rookie session,
Kelsey Gaphardt (Gr., Forest Mill, Md.) closed her day a with a third place in the same event that afternoon.
Eva Bowers (Sr., Manchester, Md.) had a busy day competing in Level II and Ranch Riding events. She was third in Level II and fifth in Ranch Riding in the morning before finishing fourth and sixth in the same events that afternoon.
Hannah Berrier (Sr., Carlisle, Pa.) completed the results with a third place finish in Level I during the A.M. session before she added a fourth place ribbon during the P.M.
The next time the Phoenix will be back in the saddle won't come until January when they head to Logan Township, New Jersey.
