CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Wilson College baseball team took on Juniata College this afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader. The Phoenix (25-9, 8-2 CSAC) won both games over the Eagles (13-18, 5-9 Landmark) with final scores of 7-2 in game one and 4-1 in game two.
Game One: Wilson took an early lead against Juniata getting on the board early with two runs in the first inning with sophomore
Haden Hoff (Westminster, MD, Fairmont State Univ.) and senior
Gerald Buchanan (Olney, MD, Montgomery CC (MD)) crossing home plate. In the top of the second inning, the Eagles secured one run to cut the Phoenix lead in half. The score remained 2-1 until the bottom of the third inning when a hit to right field by freshman
Alex Seidleck (Crownsville, MD, Indian Creek HS) brought in fellow freshman
Doc Daniels (Deal Island, MD, Crisfield HS). Juniata again cut the lead within one run in the top of the fifth inning after a deep single to right field. Daniels scored again for the Phoenix in the bottom of the fifth inning with quick feet rounding home off a single from fifth-year
KJ Curry (Bowie, MD., Coker University) bringing the score to 4-2. The Phoenix offense continued to be productive earning three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, with junior
Dean Mercer (Dunedin, FL., Clearwater Central Catholic), senior
Michael Marrale (Sykesville, MD, Old Dominion Univ.), and sophomore
Brady Andre (Brookeville, MD, Sherwood HS) all scoring for the Phoenix. Senior
Max Little (Crestview, FL., Spangdahlem) closed out the game for the Phoenix on the mound getting the next three outs with help from the Wilson defense to end the game on top 7-2.

Brady Andre and
KJ Curry each had two RBIs in the game leading the way for the Phoenix. Wilson finished with seven runs, 14 hits, and two errors while Juniata ended with two runs, two hits, and three errors.
Game Two: The Phoenix started the game by taking an early lead. In the bottom of the first inning, with Hoff and
Brandon Cook (Glen Burnie, MD., Shepherd University) on base, Marrale hit a deep ball to center field securing a double and 2 RBIs. Shortly after, Buchanan secured a single that brought home Marrale giving the Phoenix an early 3-0 lead over the Eagles. Few hits were seen from either team keeping the score at 3-0 for three innings. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Hoff hit a single to left field allowing junior
Michael Mcgee (Frederick, MD., Thomas Johnson) to cross home plate and give the Phoenix a 4-0 lead. Juniata scored their first run of the game in the top of the sixth inning after hitting a double. The score remained 4-1 for the rest of the game with only one hit seen over the remaining innings.
Inside the Box Score: Four different players scored for Wilson, while seven players found hits in game two. Marrale led the team with one run, one hit, and two RBIs. The Phoenix ended game two with four runs, seven hits, and no errors while the Eagles finished with one run, five hits, and no errors.
