CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- The Wilson College women's lacrosse team battled non-conference opponent Kings College earlier this morning. The Phoenix (1-6, 0-0 CSAC) came up short against the visiting Monarchs (1-6, 0-0 MAC) with a final score of 17-5.
How It Happened: FreshmanÂ
Sage Lague (Fairplay, MD, Goretti)Â netted the first goal of the game early in the first quarter off a free position shot. The Monarchs were quick to respond scoring just 12 seconds after Wilson's to tie the game at one. A few minutes later Kings earned their second goal of the game, this time the Phoenix responded quickly with a goal from
Jordan Hastie (Frederick, MD, Governor Thomas Johnson HS) with an assist from
Emily Young (Fairfax, VA, Chantilly HS) to keep the game even. The Monarchs would earn three more goals in the first quarter to bring the score to 5-2 with three quarters left to play. Lague secures the Phoenix's third goal of the game in the second quarter after a key timeout by the Phoenix. Wilson entered the third quarter trailing 8-3, but the Phoenix defense held on with sophomore
Krystal Kienast (Purcellville, VA, Loudon Valley HS) earning six saves and allowing four goals. During the third quarter, Wilson found two more goals from sophomore
Marissa Eisenhauer (Denville, NJ, Morris Knolls)Â and Young. The Monarchs would close out the game with four additional goals to bring the score to its final 17-5.
Inside The Box Score: Lague finished the day leading in goals scored with two goals on four shots. Young ended the day with one goal, one assist, and five ground balls recovered. SophomoresÂ
Delaney Fulfer (Greencastle, PA, Greencastle HS) and Kienast combined for 20 saves after each playing a half for the Phoenix.Â
