Phoenix Selected Eighth In Women's Soccer Preseason Poll

(LATHAM, N.Y.) – The Wilson Phoenix women's soccer team has secured the eighth spot in the 2026 United East Preseason Poll, garnering a total of 52 points. The annual poll was conducted among the head coaches within the conference with coaches not able to vote for their own school.

Penn State Harrisburg and St. Mary's tied for the top spot with each team garnering 116 points and six first place votes. The two teams tied in the United East tournament final with the Lions advancing 2-0 on penalty kicks and advancing to the third round in the NCAA tournament.

Penn College came in third with 99 points, while Penn State Berks and Lancaster Bible round out the top five and tying for fourth with 86 points. Penn State Abington was sixth with 64 points. Notre Dame was seventh with 62.
Cairn, Penn State Brandywine, Cedar Crest, and Keystone fill out the remainder of the poll.

The Phoenix are set to kick off their 2026 season with a significant road match against Gwynedd Mercy on Tuesday, September 1. This opener is particularly noteworthy as the Griffins are poised to join the United East Conference the following year, setting the stage for a future conference rivalry.

Following the season opener, Wilson will host Mary Baldwin in its first home match, marking a special occasion as it will be the team's first game on the newly installed artificial turf at Kris's Meadow. This home opener promises to be an exciting event for players and fans alike, enhancing the team's home field advantage.

As the season progresses, Wilson will begin United East play against Keystone College on Saturday, September 26.
