No. 8 Phoenix Fall To Top-Seeded Harrisburg

(MIDDLETOWN, Pa.) – The season came to an end for the women's soccer team as No. 8 Wilson fell to top-seed Penn State Harrisburg in the United East Championship quarterfinals on Saturday. The Lions showed why they were the top team in the conference as their precision offense led to two early goals and suffocating defense thwarted any chances the Phoenix tried to create.

The Basics

Score: No. 8 Wilson 0, No. 1 Penn State Harrisburg 5

Venue: PSU Harrisburg Turf Complex

Records: Wilson 7-10-3, Penn State Harrisburg 13-5-2

How It Happened
  • The Lions didn't waste any time as Ava Myers scored on an assist by Katelyn Monette. Monette wasn't finished as she set up Diana Pon just over two minutes later for a two-goal advantage. Monette got into the goal column herself as she found the back of the net in the 24th minute. Teagan Paragon added another on an assist from Julia Hughes in the 40th.
  • After the halftime break, Myers scored her second of the night. Harrisburg's attempts were limited from there, but the Phoenix were unable to take advantage.
