(LATHAM, N.Y.) – For the fifth time in six weeks, Wilson men's volleyball has a United East Player of the Week selection as
Jacob McCoy (York, Pa. / Spring Grove) picked up weekly accolades. It's the fourth time in five weeks that a Phoenix has received the honor on the defensive side of the net and the first Player of the Week award for McCoy.
The senior middle blocker led the Blue and White defense up front as the Phoenix went unbeaten on the week with three sweeps over conference competition. He was solid defensively with 3.67 blocks per match with three each against Cairn and Valley Forge before stuffing five attempts by Pratt to close the week.
He also excelled offensively and totaled 29 kills at a highly efficient rate with a .590 hitting percentage with only three errors in 44 attempts. McCoy is second in the nation in hitting percentage on the season with a success rate of .456. He's also a main reason that the Phoenix are seventh nationally and first in the conference in opponent hitting percentage at .144.
McCoy and the Phoenix close out the regular season Monday night with a home match against Immaculata.
