(LATHAM, N.Y.) – The women's soccer team was highlighted by the conference office as
Annie Smith (So., Hagerstown, Md. / North Hagerstown) was named United East Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. Smith led the offense in scoring and helped Wilson remain unbeaten with a pair of wins in games against Penn State Altoona and Cairn.
Not only did Smith score her first goal of the season, but she scored three in total between the two games. The sophomore forward notched her first score against the Nittany Lions as the Phoenix downed Altoona 3-0.
In a non-conference contest against Cairn, Smith added two more to pick up a road win and move to 5-0-1 on the season.
This is the second Player of the Week award for Smith, who previously won for the week of October 2, 2023. Smith was the United East Skye Division Rookie of the Year in 2023 and a First Team honoree after tallying 41 points on 16 goals and 9 assists in her debut season.
Smith and the Phoenix return to action tomorrow as they head across state lines to take on local rival Hood in Frederick. Kickoff with the Blazers is set for 5 p.m.
