(MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Pa.) – After a record-breaking performance on Saturday, Wilson's men's golf team faced a slight setback on Sunday, but still turned in a respectable score to finish seventh in the United East Championship. The Phoenix entered the day in sixth and had every player computed into the team score finish in the 80s for a second consecutive day.
The Phoenix finished with a team score of 346 to give them a two-round score of 682. Penn State-Berks finished just a stroke ahead for the sixth spot.
Yuchen Huang (FY, Taiwan, Veritas Meihua International), Ben Metz (Jr., Denvve, Pa. / ), Tristan Worlock (FY, DeRuyter, N.Y. / DeRuyter Central), and
Dylan Skeele (Jr., DeRuyter, Pa. / DeRuyter Central) all finished close to each other for the second round. Huang, Metz and Worlock were +16 over with an 86, while Skeele was two strokes back with an 88.
Huang started the day off well with pars on the first three holes and seven of the first 12. Metz recovered down the stretch with birdies on holes 13 and 15 with a par on 16. Worklock had one of his best rounds of the season with pars on five holes. Skeele parred four and had a birdie on the 10th.
Robert Kozicki (So. Camp Hill, Pa. / Camp Hill) also competed and turned in a 94 for the second round.
Metz finished the highest in the individual standings with a 167 between the two days to tie for 19th. Skeele was tied for 22nd. Huang finished 26th.
Penn College won the championship with a second day score of 320. The Wildcats were +40 for the tournament. They held off Lancaster Bible and Penn State-Harrisburg who finished tied for second two strokes behind.
