Box Score 2 (FREDERICK, Md.) – Wilson made the short trek down I-81 and I-70 to take on Hood in a twin bill on Monday afternoon. The Blazers used a big start to take a win in Game 1, while the Phoenix rebounded nicely to break a five-game skid against Hood in Game 2.

How It Happened (Game 1)
- After a scoreless first, things with south for the Phoenix as the Blazers posted eight runs on five hits and an error in the bottom of the second. Hood was able to add to its lead with a solo home run in the bottom of the third for a 9-0 advantage.
- The Phoenix were able to keep the game going thanks to a round trip of their own in the top of the fourth. After Haiden Brookens (Sr., Fayetteville, Pa. / Chambersburg Magnet) led off with a base hit and a pair of fielder's choices, Alyssa Wenger (Sr., Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg) homered to also score Madison Briggs (So., Lock Haven, Pa. / Central Mountain) to cut the Blazer lead to 9-2.
- Wilson was able to keep the game alive until the bottom of the sixth when the Blazers ended it in walk-off fashion. A pair of base hits set up Hannah Cohen who hit a home run to close Game 1 12-2.
How It Happened (Game 2)
- The Phoenix were able to regroup nicely and came out in the nightcap on fire. Wenger provided the much needed spark with a lead-off base hit, stole second, advanced to third on a ground out, and scored on a base hit by Brookens. Taylor Barker (Sr., Chehalis, Wash. / WF West) followed with a double, and scored two batters later along with Brookens on a base hit by Abigail Evans (FY, Muncy, Pa. / Warrior Run).
- Hood was able to answer with a pair of runs in the second, but Wilson got them back in the third. After Barker reached on a walk, Waverly Moffett (FY, Westminster, Md. / Winter Mill) put the score at 5-2 with her first home run of the season.
- Another pair of runs were added by Wilson in the fourth. The first of those came eerily similar to the first with a Wenger base hit, stolen base, advancement to third on a ground out, and Brookens bringing her in, this time on a double. Payton Kendall (Jr., McConnellsburg, Pa. / Forbes Road) made it 7-2 on a steal of home.
- The Blazers didn't go away quietly and made a comeback attempt in the late stages. A pair of hits and a walk led to a run scored in the sixth before another walk loaded the bases, but Wilson was able to get out of the jam with no further damage. Three bases hits led to another run in Hood's last chance, but Wilson was able to get out of another jam with two Blazers left stranded.
Inside The Numbers
- Paige Dill (So., New Oxford, Pa. / New Oxford) got the win in Game 2 with three strikeouts. She allowed four runs, three earned, on 10 hits and three walks.
- Brookens had a solid day overall as she went a combined 4-for-8 with two RBI and a run scored with multiple-hit games in both contests.
- Wenger, Barker, Moffett and Evans also had multiple hit games in Game 2 for the Blue and White.
- The victory broke a five-game losing skid against Hood and was the first win against the Blazers since a 6-3 decision on February 23, 2014, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
