Vande Kamp Named New Director of Equestrian Teams

(CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.) – Wilson College Director of Athletic Tina Hill has announced the hiring of Kailey Vande Kamp as the new director of equestrian teams and head coach of the Phoenix Western team. Vande Kamp comes to Wilson after working as an assistant trainer with Cathy Herrin Performance Horses the last three years. Prior to that she was an assistant coach for horse judging and equestrian teams at Middle Tennessee State University.

"I'm excited for the opportunity to join the unique equestrian program at Wilson College! The community and culture of this school is unmatched, and I am thrilled for the opportunity to grow this program alongside the incredible faculty and staff already dedicated to its success," Vande Kamp said. "I can't wait to hit the ground running in January with the western team! I'm so grateful for the opportunity to join Wilson College and looking forward to building on the success of the past year! Go Phoenix!"

"We're thrilled to have Coach Vande Kamp join our program and continue to elevate the quality and experience of our two competitive equestrian teams," added Hill. "She brings with her a breath of experience as an accomplished rider, coach, trainer and manager. We can't wait for her to get started and lead us to even greater success!"

While with Cathy Herrin Performance Horses, Kailey managed and trained up to 20 client horses and provided client riding lessons. She has also worked at the Jaeckle Center as an equine rehabilitation assistant where she provided rehabilitation and care for performance horses.

Vande Kamp went to MTSU where she was an accomplished student-athlete in addition to being an assistant coach. In 2022, she won the Tennessee Quarter Horse Association Year End All-Around Championship. She was also an All-American Quarter Horse Congress Overall Limited Division Horse Judging Champion in 2017.

She graduated twice from MTSU with a bachelor's degree in animal science in 2019 and a master's degree in horse science in 2021.

Vande Kamp will begin her new role in January.
