(HAGERSTOWN, Md.) – The Wilson men's golf team set a couple of program records while playing in the Catholic Fall Classic over the weekend. The Phoenix set a new two-round mark as they finished the tournament with a 704 after hitting a new single round mark of 346 on Sunday, breaking the old more of 353.
Ben Metz (Jr., Denver, Pa. / Garden Spot) was the tournament leader for the Blue and White after he shot a 170 over both rounds. He finished the opening day with an 88 and followed up with an 82, one stroke away from being tied for Wilson's best round.
That best round went to
Yuchen Huang (Fy., Taiwan / Veritas Meihua) who fired off an 81 in the second round. He carded a 94 for a tournament total of 175.
Robert Kozicki (So., Camp Hill., Pa. / Camp Hill) led the team after the first round as he scored an 85. He followed up with a 91 to finish the weekend with a 176.
Collin Bitler (Sr., Frederick, Md. / Thomas Johnson) completed the team on both days with a 91 and a 92, respectively, for a 183.
Tristan Worlock (Fy., DeRuyter, N.Y. / DeRuyter Central) was also included in the five-man squad. He opened the tournament with a 95 and improved in the second round by two strokes for a total of 188.
Jackson Day (Fy., Frederick, Md. / Thomas Johnson) played as an individual and finished with a 189 after hitting a 97 and 92.
Division II Shepherd coasted to the team title with a 566. Host Catholic was 29 strokes back with a 595 for second place.
Wilson will return to the links this upcoming weekend when it heads to Kutztown, Pa., for The Melee. It will be hosted at the Barkleigh Golf Club.
