CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- The Wilson College women's soccer team took a break in conference action for a match against the Lions of Penn State Schuylkill earlier this afternoon. The Phoenix had one player with a hat trick and three with a brace in their 14-0 win over the Lions.
How It Happened: The Wilson offense was flying today scoring early against Penn State Schuylkill off the foot of
Katie Riley (Mt. Airy, Md., Urbana) just thirty seconds after kick-off. The next two goals were scored from
Maddy Miller (Dillsburg, Pa., Northern) with the assist from
Morgan Wineburg (Phoenixville, Pa., Phoenixville) twenty seconds apart from each other. Maddy's goals were the first two of her collegiate career giving the Phoenix a 3-0 lead after two minutes of action. A minute later,
Katie Riley earned herself a brace (two goals) and extended the Phoenix lead to 4-0.
Becca Cordell (Waynesboro, Pa., Waynesboro) earned the first goal of her collegiate career and the fifth goal of the game for Wilson in the 35th minute of play. Shortly after,
Julia Elliott (Annapolis, Md., Broadneck) extended the lead to six, also securing the first goal of her collegiate career. With a minute left in the first half,
Julia Mohler (Point Of Rocks, Md., Brunswick) secured the seventh goal of the half.
The second half continued in a similar fashion to the first, with
Maddy Miller earning a hat trick in the opening minute of the second half. Two minutes later,
Chloe Antalek (Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Beacon) scored her first of two goals to bring the score to 9-0. There was a brief pause in scoring for the Phoenix as the next goal came twenty minutes later off the foot of
Jessica Scheel (Conway, Pa., Freedom), which also was the first of her collegiate career. Ten minutes later,
Teaghan Ewing (Font Royal, Va., Skyline) joined the scoring fun and secured the 11th goal for Wilson and the first of her collegiate career.
Hailey Chaney (Hagerstown, Md., North Hagerstown) would earn herself a brace and the first two goals of her career just a minute apart expanding the lead to 13-0.
Chloe Antalek scored the last goal of the game for the Phoenix and earned a brace in the process bringing the score to 14-0.
Inside the Box Score: Wilson outshot their opponents 39-1 over the course of ninety minutes. Nine different players scored for the Phoenix in their 14-0 victory, with
Maddy Miller leading with a hat trick. The goal-keeping duo of
Erin Roszkowiak (Cinnaminson, N.J., Cinnaminson) and Madison Briggs (Lock Haven, Pa., Central Mountain) combined for the shutout.
