MORRISTOWN, NJ- The Wilson College men's soccer team traveled earlier this afternoon for their first conference game of the season to Saint Elizabeth University. The Phoenix played a strong first half defensively but the Eagles were able to break down the Wilson defense to score two goals.
How It Happened: The Eagles were able to find the first two shots of the game with one being saved by
Vincent Natale (Mt. Airy, Maryland, Linganore High School) and the other going wide. A few minutes later,
Aidan Diem (Baltimore, MD, Archbishop Curley High School) had a shot of his own that went high. In the 31st minute,
Ryder Wallace (Jim Thorpe, PA., Jim Thorpe) hit a shot to the bottom left corner of the goal that was saved by the Saint Elizabeth goalkeeper. The game was tied 0-0 after the first forty-five minutes of action. Saint Elizabeth found their first goal of the second half in the 68th minute after six different shot attempts to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead over the Phoenix. The Eagles extended their lead in the 80th minute to bring the game to its final score of 2-0.
Inside the Box Score: Aidan Diem, Ryder Wallace, and Ian Ruiz (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico, Colegio Santa Maria del Camino) each were able to have a shot for the Phoenix.
Vincent Natale ended the game with seven saves against nine shots faced.
