(LANCASTER, Pa.) – The season came to a close today for the Wilson men's soccer team as it fell to Lancaster Bible on Saturday afternoon. The Phoenix needed a win and some help to make the postseason, but a goal by the Chargers in the 70th minute prevented such from taking place.
The Basics
Score: Wilson 0, Lancaster Bible 1
Venue: Funk Field

How It Happened
- The Blue and White were on the defensive for most of the contest as LBC put up 26 shots to Wilson's three. Still, the Phoenix did well to lock down on the back line and keep the Chargers off the scoreboard for a bulk of the game. The hosts were able to get off six shots in the opening 20 minutes with Gerson Navarro (Sr., Manasssas Park, Va. / Manassas Park) making saves on the first two. Shortly after the 20 minute mark Jordan DeVincent (Sr., Eldersburg, Md. / Liberty) gave Wilson its first attempt which was high. Landon Howe (Sr., Martinsburg, W.Va. / St. Maria Goretti) and Tyler Cottone (Sr., Milford, Pa. / Delaware Valley) had early shots in the second half with Howe's take needing saved.
- A set piece was the eventual undoing of the scoreless stalemate with LBC getting a corner kick in the 70th. Gabe Bormolini provided the assist with Zach Coryell getting the finish. The Chargers kept the pressure on the Phoenix back and Wilson was held off the shot chart the rest of the way.
Inside The Numbers
- Navarro totaled eight saves on the day. He finishes the year with 63, fifth-most in the United East.
