Men's Soccer Ties Clarks Summit

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- The Wilson College men's soccer team faced off earlier this afternoon against Clarks Summit University. The Phoenix and the Defenders went head to head for 90 minutes but with key saves from each keeper, the score remained locked at 0-0 as time expired.

How It Happened: The match between the Phoenix and the Defenders was a fairly even game with both teams having their chances. Wilson had the first scoring opportunity and the first save of the game, as Noah Wickenheiser (Cresco, PA., Notre Dame) secured the first shot and minutes later, Vincent Natale (Mt. Airy, Maryland,  Linganore High School) earned the first save of the game. In the first half, Clarks Summit controlled the offensive pace having a five-minute stretch where they were able to secure five scoring opportunities before Wilson was able to secure a corner kick to break up the momentum. From there, it went back and forth with Aidan Diem (Baltimore, MD, Archbishop Curley High School) having the last shot of the first half that was saved by the Defenders goalkeeper. The second half continued in a similar fashion to the first but with more urgency from each side. Each side had its chances but each keeper did their job and the game concluded with a 0-0 tie.

Inside the Box Score:  Terrell Samuels (Chambersburg, PA., Chambersburg) led the team with three shots followed by six other Phoenix with one shot a piece. Wilson finished with nine shots to the Defenders' 17 shots, however, the Phoenix led with shots on goal with five shots on goal to the Clarks Summit's three. Vincent Natale saved each shot that he was faced with ending with three saves and a clean slate on the day.

Up Next: The Phoenix will travel to Cairn University on Wednesday, October 19 at 3:30 p.m.
