Volleyball Blanked at NEAC Crossover

MORRISTOWN, N.J. - The Wilson College women's volleyball team competed in a North Eastern Athletic Conference crossover versus the College of Saint Elizabeth and Penn State Abington today. The Phoenix dropped both matches by a 3-0 score.

In the opening match versus the host Eagles (6-8, 3-4 NEAC) the Phoenix (0-13, 0-6 NEAC) fell 3-0 by scores of 25-13, 25-11, and 25-12. Freshman Laury Jean Baptiste (Fort Lauderdale, Fl., Coconut Creek) led the Phoenix with 4 service aces and 5 blocks. Sophomore Hanna Quarry (Elizabethtown, Pa., Elizabethtown) led the team with 10 digs and 3 kills.  The Eagles were led by Yasmin'na Muhammad with 11 kills, while Nicole Morera tallied a game high 22 assists.

For the match, the Phoenix had 8 kills against 19 errors on 58 attempts for an -.190 attacking percentage. The Eagles had 25 kills against 12 errors on 68 attempts for a .200 attacking percentage.

The second match of the day featured a match-up with the Nittany Lions (12-7, 4-4 NEAC) of Penn State Abington. The Nittany Lions won the match 3-0 by scores of 25-13, 25-8, and 25-14. Jean Baptiste led the Phoenix with 5 blocks and 3 kills. Freshman Simahj James (Fort Lauderdale, Fl., Northeast High) tallied 7 assists while Quarry had a game high 9 digs.

The Phoenix had 10 kills against 20 errors on 62 attempts for a -.161 attacking percentage, while the Nittany Lions had 23 kills against 10 errors on 66 attempts for a .197 attacking percentage.

Wilson returns to the court tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. versus Bryn Athyn in the final match of the crossover.
