(LATHAM, N.Y.) – For the second time in three weeks, the Wilson men's basketball team has a student-athlete named a United East Player of the Week. This time
Armani Jones (Sr., Chicago, Ill. / Christ the King Prep / Bryant & Stratton) earned accolades for his defensive abilities in two games over the previous week.
Jones had his best week of the season thus far as he helped lead Wilson to a split week while averaging 19.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. He opened with 14 points and nine rebounds, all defensive, as the Phoenix defeated Mount Aloysius for their first win of the season.
He followed up with a 24 point, nine rebound outing against Messiah in Wilson's home opener on Saturday. He had a steal in each game as well as two blocks against the Falcons.
This is Jones' first weekly accolade of the seaosn and his third all time (02/10/25, 12/23/24).
Jones and the Phoenix will return to action as they head to Division II Millersville on Tuesday evening.
