(LATHAM, N.Y.) – For a second consecutive week and fourth time this season,
Jalen Bowie has been named the United East Defensive Player of the Week. The senior guard helped Wilson to a 2-0 week while averaging 8.5 rebounds, 3.5 blocks, and 2.5 steals in wins against Lancaster Bible and Keystone to help elevate the Phoenix's playoff chances.
Against the Chargers, he blocked three shots, pulled in four rebounds, and made two steals. On the opposite end he scored 11 points. It helped put Wilson over LBC, giving the Chargers just their second conference loss and created a logjam at the top of the United East standings.
The Frederick native followed up with a double-double against the Giants on Saturday which included 13 rebounds, four more blocks, and three steals. Offensively he was solid with 11 points against LBC and 15 more against Keystone.
Bowie is currently fourth in the conference in total blocks with 22. He's second in the conference with 5.7 defensive rebounds per game behind teammate
Armani Jones who has 6.65.
The Phoenix will look to secure a postseason bid on Tuesday as they head to Valley Forge for the penultimate game of the regular season. Tipoff with the Patriots is set for 5 p.m.
