(NEW JERSEY) – The Wilson hunt seat team opened up a two-show weekend by placing third on Saturday with plenty to be excited about heading into the semester finale on Sunday.
Taylor Hayes (FY, Nescopeck, Pa.) highlighted the day as she pointed out of limit flat and qualified for regionals in doing so.
Darin Toby (So., Harrisburg, Pa.) also moved out of pre-novice to novice.
Penn State was the high point team of the day. Susquehanna was named reserve high point team.
Hayes' points resulted in a second place finish to lead a quartet of Phoenix riders in the discipline.
Jenna Howell (Jr., Morganza, Md.) and
Ally Clayton (Jr., Morgantown, Pa.) added third place finishes while
Kendi Long (Jr., Media, Pa.) was fifth.
Toby was first in the pre-novice event that also saw
Lexie Rice (FY, Myersville, Md.) finish fourth. He was one of two first place ribbons awarded on the day. The other went to
Emily Breighner (FY, Nottingham, Md.) in limit hunter seat over fences. Howell was third, Long was fifth, while Clayton and Hayes took sixth.
Second place finishes went to
Judi Wolf (Sr., Sykesville, Md.) and
Erin Woodworth (So., Perkasie, Pa.) in open hunter seat on the flat with Gilley placing third. Woodworth, Wolf, and Gilley were also third, fourth and fifth, respectively, in open hunter seat over fences.
In intermediate hunter seat,
Emily Johnson (Jr., Wellsville, Pa.) was second,
Tess Hairston (FY, Seldon, N.Y.) and
Kylier Wright (Sr., York Springs, Pa.) were third, and Breighner was fifth on the flat. Over fences, Hairston and Wright were fourth while Johnson was fifth.
Novice hunter on the flat saw
Mahala Holland (FY, Glen Burnie, Md.) take third.
Heather Judge (Jr., Glenside, Pa.) and
Danielle Garman (FY, Dover, Pa.) were sixth.
Aimee Miller (FY, Douglasville, Pa.) added a third place finish in introductory hunter seat on the flat.
The Phoenix will ride again on Sunday to complete the fall portion of the season.
