(CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.) – The Wilson women's soccer team hosted WVU Potomac State and received multiple goal efforts out of
Halley Shaffer (Fr., Sunbury, Pa. / Line Mountain) and
Katie Riley (So., Mt. Airy, Md. / Urbana) en route to victory. Their efforts helped the Phoenix jump out to a 4-0 lead and hold on for a 5-2 decision.

How It Happened
- Defense dominated the majority of the first half as neither team scored in the first 40 minutes. Eventually Shaffer broke through and added an offensive spark to close the first half in style. She started the scoring in the 41st minute and added another thanks to an assist from Morgan Wineburg (Sr., Phoenixville, Pa. / Phoenixville) with 55 seconds left in the half to give Wilson a 2-0 lead at the break.
- In the second half, Riley picked up where Shaffer left off. It took her just one minute to make it 3-0. Just a couple of minutes later she took a helper from Bailey Miller (Sr., Sterling, Va. / Washington) to make it 4-0.
- The Catamounts mounted a comeback attempt and scored their first goal in the 58th minute. A second was added, but it wasn't until the 85th. Miller then put the finishing touches on the game on a strike in the 87th minute on an assist from Jade Wolfe (So., Mercersburg, Pa. / James Buchanan).
Inside The Numbers
- Chloe Stout (Fr., Minersville, Pa. / Minersville) and Madison Briggs (Fr., Lock Haven, Pa. / Central Mountain) split the game between the pipes. Stout opened the game and made a pair of saves, while Briggs played the second frame and rejected three attempts.
- Shots were relatively even with Wilson holding a 20-17 advantage. Wilson had 11 on target compared to seven for the Catamounts.

The Phoenix will be back in action on Saturday when they head on the road to take on Penn State-Abington. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
