GREENSBURG, Pa.- The Wilson College women's soccer returned to action on the road against Pitt-Greensburg University earlier this afternoon. The Phoenix were outscored in the match as the end result came to a final score of 3-0 to the Bobcats.
How It Happened: The Phoenix offense started strong against the Bobcats having three shots in the first 20 minutes while the Bobcats had zero shots with, sophomore
Jade Wolfe (Mercersburg, Pa, James Buchanan), freshman
Halley Shaffer (Sunbury, Pa., Line Mountain), and senior
Bailey Miller (Sterling, Va., Washington) each having an opportunity. Pitt- Greensburg's first goal of the game came in the 27th minute of action giving them a 1-0 lead over the Phoenix. The Wilson defense buckled in and held strong for the rest of the half to remain trailing 1-0 moving into the second half. This time, however, the Bobcats offense getting starting strong early as they found their second goal of the game in the 53rd minute of the play to bring the score to 2-0. In the 65th minute, Pitts-Greensburg secured their third goal of the game. The Phoenix defense held strong for the remainder of the game to keep the score at 3-0 despite the offensive efforts from the Bobcats.
Inside the Box Score: Miller and Shaffer each had two shots to lead the team in shot attempts,
Wolfe and freshman Maddy Miller (Dillsburg, Pa., Northern) followed with one shot apiece. Goal Keepers
Rebecca Marakovitz (New Market, Md., Linganore) and Erin Roszkowiak (Cinnaminson, N.J., Cinnaminson) combined for three saves on the day.
Up Next: The Phoenix will return to Chambersburg to have their home opener on Wednesday, September 7 at 4 p.m. against Potomac State University.
