CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- The Wilson College men's soccer team kicked off against the visiting Lions of Penn State Abington earlier this afternoon. The Phoenix defense battled hard but the Lions ended on top with a final score of 5-0.
How It Happened: Wilson keeper,
Vincent Natale (Mt. Airy, Maryland, Linganore High School), had a busy first half racking up ten saves in the first half and facing 17 shots. Natale's first save of the game came in the fifth minute of action. Five minutes later,
Martin Souza (Manassas Park, VA, Manassas Park High School) had a shot saved by the Lions' keeper. Shortly after, Penn State Abington found their first goal of the match. After ten minutes and two more saves from Natale, the Lions netted their second goal in the 21st minute of action. In the 38th minute of the game,
Vincent Natale made a huge save on a penalty kick diving to his right to keep the score 2-0 moving into the half. In the second half,
Martin Souza had his shot saved by the Abington keeper just two minutes after kick-off. The Lions expanded their lead in the 56th minute with another goal bringing the score to 3-0. Penn State Abington scores two more goals to close out the game with a final score of 5-0.
Inside the Box Score: Vincent Natale finished out the day with 12 saves and one big save off a penalty kick, setting his career high for saves in a single match.
Martin Souza led the team in shots with four shots followed by
Dylan Youmans (Westminster, MD, South Carroll High School) with two shots.
