CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Wilson College women's soccer team had their first conference game of the season this afternoon against Clarks Summit University. The Phoenix were able to secure their first conference win of the season over the Lady Defenders with a final score of 3-1.
How It Happened: The Wilson offense came ready to play today having the first six shots of the game within the first 20 minutes of the game.Â
Halley Shaffer (Sunbury, Pa., Line Mountain) had the first goal of the game in the 21st minute of action sliding the ball past the Lady Defenders goalkeeper giving the Phoenix a 1-0 lead. Â
Katie Riley (Mt. Airy, Md., Urbana)Â had two shots three minutes apart before the second goal would be scored. Wilson would find their second goal in the 33rd minute of play fromÂ

Julia Mohler (Point Of Rocks, Md., Brunswick)Â giving the Phoenix a 2-0 lead going into the half. Ten minutes into the second half,Â
Halley Shaffer earned herself a brace as she scored her second goal of the match to bring the score to 3-0. The Phoenix offense would continue to push and take shots but was unable to find the back of the net. In the 70th minute, Clarks Summit capitalized on a penalty kick to give them their loan goal of the game and bring the score to its final, 3-1.Â
