Softball Crowned CSAC Champions

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - After a lengthy delay, the Colonial States Athletics Conference (CSAC) Softball Championship was reduced down to two teams as your Wilson College Phoenix took on the Ravens of Rosemont for a chance at an automatic bid to the first round of the NCAA Championships, The Phoenix (22-11-1, 14-2 CSAC) took down the Ravens (17-16, 13-3 CSAC) by a final score of 4-2. 

How It Happened: Graduate Student Megan Potter (Hagerstown, MD., South Hagerstown) started in the circle for Wilson, getting out of the top of the first inning with no damage done. The first hit for the Phoenix came in the bottom of the second, that's when graduate student Jenna Carty (Chambersburg, PA., Greencastle-Antrim) knocked a single to right field. Later on, in the bottom of the third, sophomore Haiden Brookens (Fayetteville, PA, Chambersburg Magnet) dove in the first run of the game with a single to right, putting Wilson up 1-0. The Phoenix added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth with senior Jessica Kosheba (Marietta, PA., Donegal) and junior Alyssa Wenger (Chambersburg, PA., Chambersburg) added RBIs, extending the lead to 3-0. Senior Delaney Glazer (Rochester, WA., Rochester) added one more RBI in the bottom of the fifth as Wilson went on to win 4-2, as the CSAC Championship returns back to Chambersburg.

Inside the Box Score: The Phoenix tallied four runs on eight hits with two errors, while their opponent added two runs on four hits with two errors. Potter threw a complete game, earning eight strikeouts on her way to being named Championship MVP. Brookens and Glazer both went 2-3 with one RBI, with Brookens adding a double. Wenger, Cartyand graduate student Meghan Bradley (Warrington, PA., Central Bucks South) each went 1-3, while Wenger added a double and stolen base.
