CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Wilson College women's lacrosse team played host to the visiting Falcons of Cedar Crest College earlier this afternoon in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) showdown. The Phoenix (3-7, 2-1 CSAC) took down the Falcons (1-4, 0-1 CSAC) by a score of 16-2.
How It Happened: Wilson started the match with a draw control win for freshman
Sage Lague (Fairplay, MD, Goretti). About four minutes later, after a flurry of shots from the Phoenix, freshman
Emily Young (Fairfax, VA, Chantilly HS) notched the first goal of the game that propelled Wilson in front, 1-0. Less than 30 seconds later, freshman
Hope Sanders (Hanover, PA, New Oxford HS) tallied the second goal of the game, off an assist from fifth-year senior
Michaela Singer (Annville, PA., Annville-Cleona), putting them up 2-0. The Phoenix maintained control for the next four minutes, that's when sophomore
Kayla McHugh (Harrisburg, PA, Central Dauphin HS) added another goal for Wilson, coming off a pass from freshman
Jordan Hastie (Frederick, MD, Governor Thomas Johnson HS).
Young added one last goal before the first period was over, as the Phoenix took a 4-0 lead headed into the second quarter. Wilson dominated the second period, adding five goals in the quarter, while only allowing one shot from their opponent.

Singer scored four unanswered goals that put the Phoenix in front 9-0 going into halftime.
Starting the second half, after another draw control win from
Lague, she drove down the field and added another goal for Wilson. Cedar Crest managed to score their first goal, shortly after, but the Phoenix responded about 30 seconds later with another goal from
Lague, extending the lead to 11-1. Later on, in the third quarter, the Falcons managed to sneak another goal by the keeper, cutting their deficit to 11-2. But Wilson, once again, responded with a goal. This time it was sophomore
Marissa Eisenhauer (Denville, NJ, Morris Knolls) who tallied a goal, assisted by
Sanders. The Phoenix added four more goals in the final quarter, scored by
Young,
Singer,
Lague, and freshman
Erin Roszkowiak (Cinnaminson, NJ, Cinnaminson HS), as Wilson walked away with a 16-2 victory.
Inside the Box Score: Singer added her second hat trick of the season, recording five goals, while also adding eight points, five ground balls, three assists, and three caused turnovers.
Young produced four goals on nine shots, along with two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Lague also scored a hat trick with three goals, ten shots, and a game-high 12 draw control wins.
McHugh,
Sanders,
Roszkowiak, and
Eisenhauer also added goals in the game. Sophomores
Delaney Fulfer (Greencastle, PA, Greencastle HS) and
Krystal Kienast (Purcellville, VA, Loudon Valley HS) both spent time in goal, combining for four saves. The Phoenix outshot their opponent 51-7 while going a perfect 10-10 on clear attempts.
