Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Lacrosse Victorious Over Hollins

ROANOKE, Va.- The Wilson College women's lacrosse team traveled this afternoon for a nonconference tune-up against Hollins University. The Phoenix (5-8, 3-2 CSAC) were victorious over Hollins (0-6) with a final score of 17-2. 

How It Happened: The Phoenix set the tone for the game from the first whistle with their first goal coming just seventeen seconds into the game after winning the draw control and a shot from freshman Sage Lague (Fairplay, MD, Goretti).  Lague found her second of the game just a minute after her first. Junior Paige Reynolds (Keedysville, MD, Boonsboro High School) also found the back of the net on a free position goal. The Phoenix ended the first quarter leading by a score of 7-0 and winning seven draw controls. Lague found her third and fourth goals in the beginning minutes of the second quarter to expand their lead to 9-0. Hollins University was able to capitalize off a turnover to bring the score to 9-1 with just over ten minutes remaining. Anna Gibson (Cecil County, MD, Perryville HS), Hope Sanders (Hanover, PA, New Oxford HS), and Michaela Singer (Annville, PA., Annville-Cleona) all found the back of the net to close out the half with a 12-1 lead over Hollins University. Freshman Emily Young (Fairfax, VA, Chantilly HS) and sophomore Kayla McHugh (Harrisburg, PA, Central Dauphin HS) were the lone scorers in the third quarter expanding the Phoenix lead to 14-1. Wilson was able to capitalize on two more free-position shots in the fourth quarter to bring the lead to 16-2. Erin Roszkowiak (Cinnaminson, NJ, Cinnaminson HS) closed out the game by scoring the final goal with just eight seconds remaining. 

Inside the Box Score: Wilson had ten different players score goals this afternoon. Sage Lague led the team with five goals, followed by Paige Reynolds with a hat trick, and Kayla McHugh with two of her own. Sophomores Delaney Fulfer (Greencastle, PA, Greencastle HS) and Krystal Kienast (Purcellville, VA, Loudon Valley HS) combined for four saves in the win over Hollins University.
