BRYN ATHYN, Pa.- The Wilson College men's volleyball team earned their first victory today against Colonial States Athletics Conference opponent Bryn Athyn College. The Phoenix ( 1-4, 1-1 CSAC) led the Lions of Bryn Athyn (0-1, 0-1 CSAC) in all three sets with the final scores being 25-11, 25-22, and 25-17.
How It Happened: Wilson went on a 4-0 run to start the first set, helped on by a service ace from seniorÂ
Connor Martin (Warner Robins, GA., Houston County). In this set, the Phoenix had two 5-0 runs to secure the set victory at 25-11. The second set started in a similar fashion with sophomoreÂ
Ian Ruiz (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico, Colegio y Noviciado Santa Maria del Camino)Â earning two service aces in a 4-0 start to the set. The Phoenix went on to trade two and three point runs with the Lions until Wilson secured the lead 25-22. Heading into the final set, it was seniorÂ
Andrew Hetzer (Chambersburg, PA., Cumberland Valley Christian)Â with the two aces to give the Phoenix a 6-1 lead over the Lions. The set would then even out at 11 before Wilson was able to gain momentum and a 22-11 lead over Bryn Athyn off the serves of
Martin. The Lions would attempt a comeback but would fall short as the Phoenix would hold on to win 25-17.Â

Andrew Hetzer was very productive over the course of the three sets totaling 12 assists, four aces, four digs, and three kills. SeniorÂ
Shae Cardenas (Torrance, CA., West Los Angeles CC) also had a big day with nine kills, five digs, and two assists.Â
Up Next: The Phoenix will be home Thursday, March 10, at 7:00 p.m. against Mount Aloysius College ( 3-10, 0-6 AMCC).Â
