CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Wilson College men's volleyball game played host to the Cannoneers of the Pratt Institute of Technology in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) match. The Phoenix (3-6, 2-1 CSAC) defeated the Cannoneers (0-7, 0-3 CSAC) with set scores of 25-18, 25-18, and 25-21.
How It Happened: Wilson got the match started with a 7-1 run, early on in the match. During the run, senior
Eric Holz (Williamsport, PA., Loyalsock Township) helped fuel the offense with two kills while senior
Connor Martin (Warner Robins, GA., Houston County) notched an ace. After Pratt started a five-point run, the Phoenix responded with a five of their own that extended their lead to 12-6. The Cannoneers started to gain some ground late, but Wilson stopped any chances of a comeback as they took this set by a final score of 25-18. In the second set, both teams started off trading points until they were knotted up at six apiece. Immediately after, the Phoenix extended their lead thanks to ten-straight unanswered points. Supplying the points in the run were freshman
Jackson Cordell (Waynesboro, PA, Waynesboro Area Senior H.S.), sophomore
Saria Alshaikhali (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Hayfield High School), and
Holz. Pratt, once again, started to gain some momentum late in the set but Wilson walked away with the 25-18 victory, off two service aces from senior
Shae Cardenas (Torrance, CA., West Los Angeles CC). The final set started off with the Cannoneers taking their first lead of the night. But, the Phoenix hung tough and started to chip away the deficit until they flipped the scoreboard to 16-11. Once again, the Cannoneers kept it close but Wilson took the set 25-21.
