HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Wilson College women's lacrosse team hit the road this afternoon for a nonconference match with Juniata College. The Phoenix (1-3, 0-0 CSAC) struggled to get going offensively and fell to the Eagles (3-1, 0-0 Landmark) with a final score of 22-1.
How It Happened: The Phoenix earned the first shot of the game from freshman
Sage Lague (Fairplay, MD, Goretti) off a free position shot opportunity that was saved by the Eagles keeper. Wilson's next two shots of the first quarter came from free position shots but neither found the back of the net sending the Phoenix into the second quarter trailing 9-0. Juniata continued with their momentum in the second quarter adding six goals on nine shots with sophomore
Delaney Fulfer (Greencastle, PA, Greencastle HS) earning one save for Wilson. In the third quarter, the Phoenix defense stepped up holding the Eagles offense to just three goals on six attempts. Freshman
Emily Young (Fairfax, VA, Chantilly HS) had the lone shot for Wilson at the end of the third quarter. Fifth-year
Morgan Burkepile (Millerstown, PA., Greenwood) scored the only goal for the Phoenix, early in the fourth-quarter a man-up on the Eagles. Juniata would score the next four goals to bring the game to a close ahead of the Phoenix 22-1.
Inside the Box Score:Sage Lague and Emily Young led the team with two shots apiece while
Burkepile would follow with one shot and a goal.
Delaney Fulfer and Krystal Kienast (Purcellville, VA, Loudon Valley HS) would combine for nine saves on the day.
Up Next: Wilson will return home Saturday, March 12 at 1:00 p.m. against Chatham University (2-1, 0-0 PAC) for another nonconference game.
